β€œThe challenge these days, is to be somewhere, to belong to some particular place, invest oneself in it, draw strength and courage from it, to dwell in a community.”- bell hooks

BELONGING is one of the first community initiatives I founded during my graduate studies. I received support from the Art Hives Network to provide a series of art therapy workshops for members of the BIPOC community in downtown Montreal .

As a first-generation, racialized immigrant, it became apparent to me very early in life that BIPOC face many obstacles and barriers accessing quality, relevant mental health care in Canada.

BELONGING has since evolved into an ongoing venture of creating safer spaces for members of the BIPOC community to engage in creative exploration, meaning-making, storytelling, mindful movement and collective healing. Collaboratively with my friend and colleague Jenn Addison, we have been able to provide in-person and virtual workshops to BIPOC participants in Montreal and around the world! This work has been supported by the Yoga Mala Foundation and QPIRG Concordia.
